Cu2O Nanoparticles Deposited on Y2O3 and CuO: Synthesis and Antimicrobial Properties

Abstract This paper reports the preparation of copper(I) oxide nanoparticles deposited on yttrium and copper(II) in presence acerola white willow extracts. Through use natural compounds, it was possible to modify surface Y 2 O 3 CuO carriers allowing Cu be a greater extent, thus improving antibacterial properties materials. nanoparticles, by being carrier, enable an increase contact with microorganisms, which react form reactive oxygen species. sizes about 38 nm 76 were obtained for - CuO-deposited respectively. The Gram-negative bacteria Escherichia coli shown sensitivity degree inhibition compared Staphylococcus Aureus already at concentration 250 mg/L. For almost all materials, level remained above 50% after 48 h. Analysis effect antimicrobial materials against Candida albicans fungus high activity only highest concentrations 8000 mg/L, growth 100% also h both –Cu CuO–Cu O.
